He quickly became a reputed Hybrid creative and after a few years he moved to BBDO Brussels, where he was responsible for the agency’s first Gold and Silver Lion for the iconic Baby Made on Board campaign for Dodge.

In 2011 Willem started as a freelancer and worked for Belgium’s most renowned agencies such as Mortierbrigade, Famous, BBDO and Boondoggle to name but a few… Almost by accident, he founded Make Lemonade, Belgium’s first offbeat independent creative boutique agency. Choosing content and imagination over scale and prestige. In its first year of existence, as a two men agency, Make Lemonade was shortlisted in the Cannes Lions film category (media & publications) and won Gold at the Belgian CCB awards with campaigns for Canvas, the quality channel of the Belgian public broadcasting company. Make Lemonade grew quickly to a 15 people outfit.

In 2019, and numerous National and International awards later, Willem realised that he went from being an entrepreneurial creative to something he didn’t really have in mind when he started: a business manager. He decided to stop Make Lemonade as an agency and fly solo again. Make Lemonade became a one-man show, working freelance for agencies as a Creative Director, – Storyteller, – Consultant, – content guy, or whatever. Right before Covid, he started as a Creative Content Director at TBWA, helping their biggest clients to get through this difficult period. Finally, he moved on to Ogilvy Social Lab, where he’s been the ECD since December 2021.

During the last 14 years, while eating, he created iconic work for brands such as Heineken, Samsung, Audi, Jeep, IKEA, etc – winning many global and regional awards, including 4 Grand Prixes and 7 Gold Cannes Lions. He was included in the global top 5 most awarded copywriters by the most prominent global rankings, including Cannes, AdAge, The BigWon and Gunn Report.
